Fresh Sourdough Breads

Sourdough Bakery: Each week, Laurie Bennett creates handcrafted artisan sourdough bread, made with care and tradition with her sourdough starter she began many years ago. Her bread is available for purchase at The Buckles Farmstand (Facebook @thebucklesfarm) and our own Bread and Bloom Farme-Stand every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Her selection includes a variety of rustic country loaves, sourdough focaccia, baguettes, english muffins, and sourdough sweet breads like cinnamon swirl and savory breads—each made using natural fermentation methods that enhance both flavor and nutrition. Sourdough’s long fermentation process helps break down gluten and phytic acid, making it easier to digest and often more tolerable for those with gluten sensitivity.

Sourdough Hands-On Workshops: Laurie Bennett shares her passion for traditional baking by teaching hands-on classes on crafting sourdough for home kitchens. In these workshops, she guides participants through every step of the sourdough process—from maintaining a healthy starter to mastering techniques for mixing, shaping, and baking artisan-quality loaves. With a focus on simplicity and sustainability, Laurie empowers home bakers to create nourishing bread with confidence using basic tools and natural ingredients. Her classes not only teach the science and art behind sourdough, but also foster a sense of community, connection, and appreciation for the timeless craft of home baking.

Sourdough Tools: The Farme offers a carefully selected line of sourdough kitchen tools and book resources to help home bakers succeed in their own artisan bread-making journey. These tools, chosen and used by Laurie Bennett herself, include essentials like proofing baskets, books, dough scrapers, Danish whisks, scoring lames, and sourdough starter jars. Each item is designed to make the sourdough process more accessible and enjoyable, whether you’re just beginning or refining your skills. With quality and function in mind, these tools support the traditional methods Laurie teaches in her workshops and uses in her daily baking—bringing the craft of sourdough into kitchens throughout the community.
